Park Slope Window & Glass

By Camille Sperrazza

When you need glass replaced or installed just about anywhere in your home, call the experts at Park Slope Window and Glass, Inc (182 Fourth Avenue, between Douglas and DeGraw streets, 718-768-4066).

Owners Michael Litwin and Vincent Brini, are professionals who take pride in their work. They took over the company about six months ago, and are now at the helm of a business, which has been operating for more than 34 years.

Brini started as an installer more than 35 years ago, working his way to the top of his profession. Litwin, who grew up in Luna Park, Coney Island, has been in the sales business for over 25 years. Together, they run a business that is committed to restoring homes in the community and surrounding areas to their “original grandeur,” says Litwin.

In particular, they are fully licensed and insured landmark window specialists.  As many of the brownstones in the area are landmark buildings, they are the people to see for restoration work. Shops that are not designated landmark facilities, “don’t know what to do,“ says Litwin. On the other hand, “We are experts in the field.”

In fact, Litwin says that if you have a home that has been designated a landmark and you install material that doesn’t meet set standards, “You will be fined by the NYC Park Landmark Preservation,” he says. “This is done to “reserve the cultural integrity of the buildings in the neighborhood.”

Among the happy customers who have used Park Slope Glass and Windows Company is director Spike Lee who recently had windows replaced in a landmark building on Clinton Hill, says Litwin.

But he’s not alone. Another customer was so happy when the company replaced one window, that she decided to have the windows of her entire house re-done, says Litwin.

When people need glass table tops, mirrors, shelves, cut glass, doors, storefronts, or shower doors, Park Slope Glass and Windows Company customizes to order. They’ll come right to your home to take measurements. “We’re masters at what we do,” says Litwin.

There is a huge selection of unique glass products from which to choose, and all are available at reasonable prices, says Litwin.

Customers are welcome to visit the newly renovated showroom to see wood and aluminum windows on display, and to sit and browse through catalogues. It’s all done in a comfortable, relaxed, no-obligation atmosphere, says Litwin. In fact, he’ll soon be installing a cappuccino machine so customers can enjoy a cup of brew while perusing the numerous possibilities available to them.

Among the suppliers from which people can select include Pella and Marvin Windows. For these windows, “Our time of installation from time of deposit is 4-6 weeks which is the fastest in the industry,” says Litwin.

When purchasing aluminum windows, “we can have them installed in 7-8 days, in most cases, from the time of deposit,” he says.

The company also does restoration work. For example, it can restore metal that may have rusted out over the years, to its original luster, says Litwin.

The well-trained staff is enthusiastic and cheerful, available to answer any questions. Besides Litwin and Brini, you may run into Anthony Ilardi, the installations manager; Christopher Pederini, the repair/shop manager; and Angelo Ferreira, the installations specialist.

It’s a friendly bunch of folks, says Litwin, and that’s because they’ve got Brooklyn roots. It’s what keeps them committed to the neighborhood.  Litwin, who has a background in FM Radio, majored in Broadcasting at Kingsborough Community College. Ilardi and Ferreira are also Brooklynites.

Shop with confidence Mondays through Saturdays, from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.  Most major credit cards are accepted, and all work is guaranteed. Referrals are supplied upon request.

No matter what work you decide to have done, the service will be excellent, says Litwin. “Our customers tell us that our staff and service people are the friendliest and most professional in the industry.”

The reason is obvious: “Our clients love their brownstones, and we love our clients,” he says. Why trust anyone else?
